The Strathmore Law Review (SLR) is an annual peer-reviewed, student-edited academic law journal published by the Strathmore University Law School in conjunction with the Strathmore University Press. The SLR's philosophy is to open the gates of legal scholarship for aspiring authors. It aims to accomplish this by encouraging young legal minds to research and write on legal matters affecting the continent, as can be evidenced from its past volumes. The SLR considers submissions from undergraduate and master's students annually, making it the only consistent high-level student law review in Kenya presently. For the last six years, the SLR has continued to receive submissions by authors, both locally and internationally, including authors from South Africa, Ghana, Argentina, Tanzania, Nigeria, and Uganda. The SLR has formulated quality assurance measures such as the creation of a marking rubric to ensure uniformity in the selection, and a double-blind review editing process which works to ensure objectivity throughout the process. It also provides quality feedback to the authors, irrespective of the outcome of the selection process to help them improve their writing skills. It is in this spirit that we hope to ensure that young legal minds deepen their understanding of social and legal realities and offer thoughtful and practical solutions through critical thinking. Moreover, the SLR is also an open-source journal and this means that authors and readers of the volumes are not requested to pay any fee to be published or to access published articles respectively. Currently, the previous volumes are available on various notable platforms like HeinOnline, SSRN etc.
