We regard the city as a complex, self-constructing environment in a state of flux. By using the potential of products that are categorized as waste, reuse, or as we call it 'Superuse' is self-evident to our integrated vision of flows of materials and energy. Superuse creates short circuits, intelligently interlinking local production processes and flows of waste materials. Our architecture stems from what we can ‘harvest' in the vicinity of construction sites. This procedure leads to a new aesthetic that appreciates the local presence alongside the use history of the applied product. Reusing everything from stainless steel sinks, cable reels and window-frames to car tires results not only in a new kind of aesthetic and functionality in sustainable architecture, but also in a new approach to design itself.\2012 Architecten was established by Césare Peeren and Jan Jongert in 1997.
