The Association for the Development of Industrial Aerodynamics (ADAI) is a non-profit private institution created in 1990, associated to the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (UC), which promotes activities of research, development, demonstration, training, specialized consulting and services to the industry. ADAI is structured in two research groups, namely ‘Energy, Environment and Comfort' and ‘Forest Fires and Detonics', carrying out activities in three laboratories: 1) Laboratory of Industrial Aerodynamics (LAI, 1986), located near Polo II of the UC2) Laboratory of Forest Fires Studies (LEIF, 1995), located at the airfield of Lousã 3) Laboratory of Energetics and Detonics (LEDAP), located in Condeixa-a-NovaSince 2006, ADAI is one of the four participant and management institutions of LAETA, the Associate Laboratory of Energy, Transports, and Aeronautics, awarded the category of ‘Excellent' by the National Foundation for Sciences and Technology (FCT, I.P.) in the scope of the Multi-Annual Financing Program of R&D Units. Presently, ADAI has 89 integrated researchers, 45 of which holding a PhD.
