Group on AI for People and the Society (GAIPS) is a Portuguese research group dedicated to advanced research on the areas of Affective Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Games, Human-Robot Interaction, Intelligent Virtual Agents, and Social Simulations.GAIPS was founded in 2000 by Professor Ana Paiva, a full professor of Computer Science and Engineering department of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) as part of University of Lisbon.The group is associated to INESC-ID and Instituto Superior Técnico (IST).Since its foundation GAIPS has been awarded several EU and Portuguese grants and projects including LIREC, EMOTE, ANIMATAS, TAILOR, and HumanE-AI-Net.The lab is currently located in IST Taguspark campus and hosts 10 professors, 4 post-docs, and 32 PhD students and researchers.
