Akonye Kena means "I will help myself" in Acholi, a tribal language of northern Uganda. We work with youth and young adult self-sufficiency projects in Uganda, helping people in their quest for independence and self-reliance through training and production of tangible goods which can be sold locally and purchased by Akonye Kena at fair market value, for sale internationally. While not registered as Fair Trade, Akonye Kena follows its practices and guidelines.Your support of Akonye Kena, through donations and purchases, helps to provide funding for further project development in Uganda, including equipment, training and expansion into new communities and the development of additional projects.
