The Alliance Française du Cap is a cultural and linguistic centre located in Cape Town, South Africa. Founded in 1959, the non-profit association's main objective is to promote the French language and culture as well as intercultural exchanges between France, French-speaking countries and South Africa. - Learn French, Speak French :The Alliance Française du Cap offers French courses at all levels and trains approximately 500 South African students each year. The Alliance Française is currently the only French language training centre in South Africa recognised by the French Department of Foreign Affairs. Our teachers are experienced and highly qualified to teach French as a Foreign Language. The quality of our curriculum, as well as our exams, is recognised world-wide. - Media Library and Cultural Events:To provide an authentic and comprehensive learning and cultural experience, a wide range of social and cultural activities are proposed to the AF students and members. They also have access to the media library where they can borrow French language books, DVDs and magazines.With a gallery and a large hall of 100 m² that can accommodate up to 150 people, the Alliance Française du Cap regularly organises cultural events such as exhibitions, film screenings and concerts. - Operation and partnership :The Alliance Française du Cap is part of the Fondation des Alliances Françaises which originated in 1883. It forms part of a network of 832 Alliances Françaises based in 131 countries all over the world.The cultural centre is supported by the French Embassy in South Africa and the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. It works in partnership with IFAS (Institut Français d'Afrique du Sud), DGAF (Délégation Générale de l'Alliance Française en Afrique Australe) and the Consulate General of France in Cape Town. The Alliance Francaise is managed by a local committee to ensure that the institution is anchored in its city.
