AKKD family is one of the oldest and most prominent families engaged in business in Damascus; the city that is known as the "Gate of History". The late Anwar Akkad established his first factor for garment production in 1935. 5 years followed, he established another company trading in woolen cloth and suiting; and In 1950, the factory started producing uniforms and related accessories for the Syrian army. Taking advantage of automation technology, Anwar Akkad was able to expand and modernize his factory to fully meet market requirements at that time. As a result of continuous planning and hard work, the company became one of the most important business groups in Syria, through covering the most required needs of market, through a diversity of business lines such as food staff, beverages and soft drinks, media, transportations .. etc. while maintaining producing garments and textiles.
