Publishing - Chicago, IL, US
Founded in 2011 to address the persistent invisibility of printed art in the general art press, Art in Print is a bimonthly journal and website dedicated to the art that most people are most likely to meet in person—the print. The publication provides important contemporary criticism, fundamental historical research and timely information about current events, while championing thoughtful looking, clear prose, and lucid design. Art in Print also commissions artists' projects that take advantage of the social distribution of the periodical, and runs a bimonthly print competition that allows artists—with and without gallery affiliation—to reach an international audience. The only publication of its kind, Art in Print has emerged as a critical resource for artists, curators, scholars, collectors and viewers around the world. The Art in Print journal appears six times a year in print and online. Each issue includes feature articles and reviews of recent books, exhibitions and new editions, as well as a survey of gallery, museum, workshop, and market news. As of March 2017, Art in Print has published more than 500 articles, interviews and reviews by 173 writers, considering the work of thousands of artists, from copper plate engravings to black-light posters. As a public service Artinprint.org provides free access to one-quarter of its published content.
