Fund-raising - Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India
Founded in 2001 by a group of social entrepreneurs and students of the University of Delhi, Association for Welfare, Social Action and Research (AWSAR) – India, is one of the few voluntary organisations promoted by the Council for Advancement of People's Action and Rural Technology (CAPART), an autonomous body functioning under the aegis of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, under its Starter Package to Young Professional Scheme. In the same year, AWSAR beganworking with students of the Department of Social Work, University of Delhi in adjoining areas primarily focussed on community outreach and educational awareness. The following year, AWSAR was registered with the Registrar of Societies, Government of Delhi under the Societies Registration Act. Our registration in 2002 not only provided us a legitimate legal identity, but also shored up our efforts to mobilize support and resources to build an organization that is open, transparent, efficient, accountable, equitable and responsive to the needs of the community.
