The Astronomical Society of Nevada is a non-profit organization established to share astronomy education and awareness with the community. The ASN is based at the Fleischmann Planetarium, located at the University of Nevada Reno. The ASN provides programs such as star parties to the public, and supports the planetarium in events. Our star parties consist of our membership volunteering their time and equipment (telescopes) to show people the night sky. We have 2 monthly star parties that anybody is welcome to attend. Both start approximately 1/2 hour after sunset. On the first Friday of every month, we host our public star party at Rancho San Rafael. On the third Friday of the month we host our public star party at Sparks Marina. Naturally, the star parties are dependent on weather conditions. We are also available for private star parties such as school star parties and organizational star parties. Please feel free to contact us through our webpage at www.astronomynv.org.
