--We are a distributor for BabeSafe® mattress covers of New Zealand, which protect babies during the crucial SIDS window from newborn~1 month to 13 months of age (to 15 months with preemies) from environmental toxins formed in many mattresses, from Group 5A elements metabolized by normal household fungi to create hydride nerve gases.\--BabeSafe® covers are free, to detectable limits, of the Group 5A elements related to the toxic gases. The covers are made of polyethylene and provide a barrier between the baby and the mattress.\--The likelihood that nerve gas formation exists depends on a.) the presence of the elements in the mattress materials; b.) a baby's (parent's, in bedsharing) body heat and c.) with the nearly ever present, ubiquitous fungi.\--Other bedding materials, in and out of the crib, may also likely contain these Group 5A elements. But in the crib, replacing the bedding with 100% cotton materials eliminates this danger. No padded bedding is permitted as the padding indicates the likelihood of danger despite being of cotton.\--The offending Group 5A elements are phosphorous (P), arsenic (As) and antimony (Sb), but not nitrogen (N).\--Adult beds present uncontrollably dangerous hazards--the heat from adult bodies and bedding such as pillows and comforters, to name a few. Statistics in 24-state USA study say 69% of SIDS cases occur in bed-sharing situations in adult beds.
