Civic & Social Organization - Windsor, Ontario, Canada
Bangladesh-Windsor Student Association (BWSA)BWSA is a student club registered under University of Windsor operating to provide voluntary services to existing and new students from Bangladesh. Our focus is to assist the students of our community with respect to various situations they might face which may require support. We also focus on building strong relationship with them, make them feel at home by arranging regular meet, and greets weekly sports events and cultural events for entertainment. Below is a list of our key activities?1. Soft Landing program- This program is for new incoming students who are coming to Windsor for the first time and would require assistance with finding a place to stay or something as simple as airport pick-up. We try to arrange permanent accommodation for them in advance and maintain regular communication with them if they reach out to us before arriving here.2. Information sessions- We plan to arrange bi-weekly information sessions for students on any given topic they may elect as necessary to be discussed which might range from – where to open bank account to arranging a cost-effective daily meal plan with restaurants or to arrange carpooling. We plan to invite our existing and potential sponsors to some of these sessions so that they can talk about their business, which would be beneficial for both the parties.3. Welcome Party and Annual Get-Together- This event is to welcome the new students and inform them of the services available from us by introducing them to our club and the rest of the community. We usually arrange cultural entertainment and open discussion with the students in these occasions to make for an enjoyable get together. Our club is new, and we are constantly working on improving our goals. As we move forward, our range of activities will be more-wide spread but always focus on helping the student community.
