Nonprofit Organization Management - Pune, Maharashtra, India
Basera Center for Innovation and Governance is registered under Section 8 (a not-for-profit company) based in Pune with its co-founder Mandar Athavale and Aditi Shrivastava. Team Basera started its journey in 2018 with a curiosity to know about access to affordable housing, slum rehabilitation with an open mind. Further with peer and faculty support, it started documenting the lives of the people who shift from slums to formal housing also know as post-occupancy evaluation. The journey started with visiting various slum, slum redeveloped projects on daily basis, as well as interacting with multiple stakeholders and knowing more about the same. Further team Basera had a chance to stay at a slum redeveloped site in Ahmedabad with the family (community immersion) for a week in the community and understand the community better. For the project, we started documenting their experiences of this redevelopment journey and the transition from a slum/ jhuggi to a formal house and connecting with them on a humane level. This helped us to create a feedback loop to multiple audiences- implementing agencies (governments), architects/builders, community, and many more. We received our first funding through the Nudge foundation which supported the research at more sites in Ahmadabad.
