College/University - Lumberton, MS, US
We are located in the heart of the Mississippi Pine Belt on U. S. Highway 11 three miles south of Purvis, Mississippi, which is one half-hour south of Hattiesburg and one and one half-hours north of New Orleans. BMA primarily serves students in Southern Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Northern Florida; however, students from Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas also attend. The Gulf States Conference of Seventh-day Adventists operates the school, which opened in 1961 on more than 300 acres of land donated by I. H. Bass, founder of Bass Pecan Company. The main campus is situated in the middle of an old pecan orchard where the friendly southern students grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. BMA is accredited by the Accrediting Association of Seventh-day Adventist Schools, Colleges, and Universities and by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools/AdvancEd.Philosophy and MissionBass Memorial Academy is founded on the belief that the whole educational program--mental, physical, spiritual, and social--should prepare our students for Christian service now and throughout eternity. We believe that our entire school community, including faculty, students and family members must focus on Jesus Christ as we create a safe, nurturing environment for the pursuit of excellence in Christian education. Because we are "Rooted in Christ", our mission is to educate the whole person for Christian service. Together, we are "Learning to Serve."
