Religious Institutions - Tel Aviv-Yafo, Tel Aviv District, Israel
Beit Tefilah Israeli is a young and fast-growing, liberal, independent, egalitarian and inclusive community in urban Tel Aviv, which is committed to Jewish spirit, culture, and social action , striving to redefine the Jewish-Israeli identity of the secular Israeli public.BackgroundIn 2004 a small group of activists got together to share in a prayer service, a Kabbalot Shabbat meal, and fellowship. What began as a small group quickly grew to 200 people and the original group of activists knew that they had to do something more. From this, Beit Tefilah Israeli (Israel House of Prayer, "BTI") was founded. Our mission is simple: to provide a variety of liberal, inclusive, and egalitarian Jewish-Israeli programming for Shabbat and holiday services, lifecycle events, and Jewish-Israeli Identity exploration. We do this by blending an authentic Israeli experience of Jewish identity with the pluralistic and inclusive experiences of several recognized streams. The result is a dynamic community of Israelis and visitors from around the world joined in community, prayer, and activism.
