Recent work includes the following:-successfully funded proposals for Face the Future Foundation-a report on the state of Food-Related Programming at Public Gardens for the American Public Gardens AssociationThe purpose of this research was to investigate the prevalence and depth of food-related programs currently offered by members of the American Public Gardens Association. This research is comprised of two parts, survey and interviews. The survey was implemented first, as it was designed to generate a basic understanding of the activities, education program focus, impacts and barriers connected with food-related programming offered by public gardens. The survey was sent to all 584 members of the American Public Gardens Association in February 2016. -a Landscape Scan & Analysis of Business Skills in the Chicago area Local & Sustainable Food Sector for the Food:Land:Opportunity Initiative of Chicago Community Trust and the Kinship Foundation.For this report, Fifty-one interviews with stakeholders working in Chicago's regional local, sustainable food sector were conducted between June and September of 2016. Seventeen of those interviews were conducted with training, education and incubator organizations, another 18 interviews were conducted with organizations and businesses that offer resources and services to food businesses, and 16 interviews were conducted with food related businesses. Separate interview protocols were developed for each of the three types of interviews, although in a few cases the interviews were open-ended. In addition to these 51 interviews, several background informational interviews were conducted with local food system leaders. All interview data is stored in an online database that was created for this research and report.
