Big Sur Vineyards is delighted to announce its 2013 release of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and "Big Sur Red," - a Rhône style blend of Grenache, Syrah and Petite Sirah. The new Pinot Noir Reserve is due for release early May 2015.Lenora developed her love of wine, and Rhone wines in particular, while on location Carey has been involved in the wine business for over 20 years. As a filmmaker and communications consultant, she has documented all aspects of winekmaking. She has interviewed many winemakers, farmers and winery owners about the fine art of winemaking and vineyard best practices. Lenora was particularly fascinated with the amount of work, and love that goes into the creation of a French oak barrel. She spent time in the Allier Forest region in central France learning about tree selection, ageing and curing the oak staves, and the detail that goes into making the perfect barrel. Many of the barrels they use today come from this region in France.Lenora traveled extensively for numerous film projects and visited the wine regions in South Africa, Australia, and parts of Europe. But it was the Rhône region of France where she developed a particular love for its wines. She has been working on a Rhône style blend over the years and 2013 is Big Sur Vineyards' first vintage available to the public. Lenora and her husband Richard live on the central coast, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, while raising their two boys and tending to their olive trees and grape vines.
