It all begins with the birth of a child - maternal health is a catalyst for empowerment, education and development in marginalised communities.Our MissionThe Birthing Kit Foundation (Australia) works with organisations and communities to provide a clean birthing environment for women in developing countries in order to reduce the incidence of infant and maternal mortality.We respect peoples' dignity and values and work according to principles of basic human rights. We raise awareness, provide support and resources and act as a catalyst for the creation of birth attendant training programmes and community development projects.About BKFAEvery woman has the right to a clean and safe childbirth.The Birthing Kit Foundation (Australia) is an organisation dedicated to improving the conditions for women who give birth at home in developing countries. "Every minute, a woman dies of complications related to pregnancy and childbirth"With an estimated 385,000 women dying annually in childbirth, many from infections acquired during childbirth, there is a great need for our clean birthing kits and maternal health programs.We work with women in the most marginalised parts of the developing world with the highest rates of maternal mortality and morbidity. Many mothers and babies die from preventable infections. Birthing kits are essential to reduce the likelihood of infections and transmission of HIV.Our programs also work to empower women, families and communities with health promotion, education and community development for long term improved health, social change and development. The Foundation is a not-for-profit non-government organisation (NGO). We have no religious or political affiliations.
