Food & Beverages - Tacoma, Washington, United States
The woman who led the original Black Fleet was French Noblewoman Jeanne de Clisson, whose husband was accused of treason & beheaded in the 1300's. In response, Clisson sold their belongings & bought a trio of ships; she painted the hulls black, dyed the sails crimson, & took to the English Channel with her Black Fleet. Gaining notoriety for flying no-mercy crimson sails & beheading French Noblemen she found aboard ships with an axe, she became known as "The Bloody Lioness" & "The Lioness of Brittany". The British went so far as to offer her safe haven on their shores as a result of her vendetta against the French.Just as the Lioness of Brittany sailed & built a name for herself, the Black Fleet looks to honor Tacoma's own history of diverse entrepreneurship & fierceness, including Thea Foss & the many Tacoma residents who carry themselves with that fierceness Tacoma is known for today. Tacoma's Black Fleet brews with a passion, drive, & focus to be & do more within our craft & community. From classics to twisted, our menu & flavors are built to blend comfort & adventure with each pint & plate while using Pacific-Northwest -inspired ingredients.
