Our Mission: The Breast Cancer Resource Center of Santa Barbara is committed to serve as a community resource center that empowers women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer to advocate for themselves and make informed decisions regarding breast health. At the BCRC women are heard and find emotional support in actively navigating their cancer treatment and survivorship health.Since 1997, BCRC has been the support care focal point for women with breast cancer in Santa Barbara County. The BCRC was founded by a group of breast cancer survivors and health care professionals who joined together to address a community need for specific breast health information, cancer resources and support for women. In 1997 we opened our doors and began offering free essential services. The BCRC is an embedded community resource center and unique provider of free comprehensive support services, peer-emotional counseling and lay patient navigators for women dealing with breast cancer. Additionally offering educational outreach programs aimed at addressing the breast health needs of the underserved women in our community. As a vital community cancer-care partner and referral service conduit for women diagnosed with breast cancer, we bridge gaps in access to care, support and breast health education. The BCRC philosophy is that by instilling confidence and educating women about breast health they will be empowered to self advocate and better able to make informed decisions, and find comfort in actively participating in their healthcare, cancer treatment and survivorship.
