Building Healthier Communities™ (BHC USA) is a national 501 c 3 non-profit organization. BHC USA is the official national platform for the primordial health and prevention model created by the Department of Health and Human Services Assistant Surgeon General in Chicago. This model is embodied in Building Healthier Chicago. BHC USA insures uniform branding, partner and resource development and metrics standardization. The BHC fund also provides much needed micro-grants for local organizations who demonstrate innovative, measurable, clinically effective health interventions creating aggregate improvements in health at the community level.Programs of BHC USA include strategies and services to implement the HHS primordial health and prevention model for federal, national, regional, state and local stakeholders. The model engages community organizations, academics, schools, faith communities, private citizens, health care and government to improve the health of all citizens. BHC USA promotes tracks and models the adoption of selected programs, practices, policies, and supportive environments throughout the worksites, schools, health care organizations, faith based organizations, parks and neighborhoods of U.S. communities. BHC USA maintains a national assessment of the success and measurements of the local stakeholders, and provides a national mechanism for the sustainability of successful programs.Local Building Healthier Communities form a collaborative of local and national stakeholders that work to strengthen efforts to promote the health of community residents, and employees.
