Burnaby North is a highly academic school that enrolls a population of over 2000 students in grades 8 through grade 12. It has one of the largest Advanced Placement (AP) programs in Canada: Over 30% of the student body is enrolled in at least one Honours or AP course. Many of its alumni are offered scholarships to attend top post-secondary institutions in Canada and the United States. Burnaby North secondary is also known for its long history of music excellence, notably the marching band that performs in Chinatown and nearby areas every year. It also welcomes a considerable number of international students, which enriches students' knowledge of the world and promotes diversity.
