Civic & Social Organization - Battle Ground, Washington, United States
Located on the shores of the East Fork of the Lewis River just five minutes North of Battle Ground, Washington, Camp Hope offers a unique setting for today's youth to experience the outdoors. In 2012 Camp Hope joined with Clark County Parks in a unique partnership to restore the former Camp Juliana Girl Scout Camp, which had been left vacant since their lease expired in 1996. To date buildings have been improved and we now have 16 cabins sleeping 8 people each, along with a bath house and outdoor kitchen, and an amphitheater featuring a large fire pit and covered stage. Providing opportunities for youth-focused groups such as Boys and Girls Clubs, youth groups, or sport teams to rent the 107 acre site is just one way to enjoy this facility. The vision of Camp Hope is to provide an opportunity for youth to experience unconditional love and support from caring adults in our community. We offer monthly Discovery Day Camps from April through November. Here students ages 10 to 18 will experience archery lessons, horseback riding, art opportunities, cave exploration, nature hikes, and river exploration among other things. Additionally Camp Hope now offers three opportunities a year for local foster families to spend three days at the camp completely free of charge. Kids of all ages will experience the same outdoor opportunities as our day camp students, and parents will be provided the opportunity for much needed respite. It's our gift to those who give so much to the kids of our community. In the coming months and years the 60+ year old property will be developed to include an indoor dining facility, additional bath houses, and rebuilding of Juliana Lodge around the original stone fire where the lodge first stood.
