The Capital Area Manufacturing Council (CAMC) is an executive-level manufacturing community that works together to improve mid-Michigan's manufacturing competitiveness by addressing and tackling common issues, such as: • Implementing lean strategies• Diversification; markets, products, services • Pricing pressure from customers• Strategic planning• Supply chain support • Import/export strategies • Keeping up-to-date with technology and innovation • Process improvements skillsThe CAMC will maintain a strong workforce development group consisting of senior level HR managers that will address important issues facing employers such as:• The rising cost of healthcare benefits • Employee engagement • Expansion of apprenticeships programs • Establishing training programs• Compensation structure • Finding and retaining skilled workers A CAMC membership also creates many opportunities for members to network:• Six executive level meetings per year• Four workforce development meetings per year• Activities, events, plant tours and networking• Electronic networking• Business opportunities• Peer-to-peer advising and consulting
