Nonprofit Organization Management - Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria
Care For Vision is a non-profit organization that works with children, families and community service providers to eliminate preventable and treatable child blindness and create an enabling environment for visually impaired children in Nigeria. Care For Vision uses a community based participatory approach, called key informant method to identify children with visual impairment and sight disabilities in remote and rural communities that have limited access to health, education, and rehabilitation services. Through Care For Vision local ophthalmologists train community engagement officers who in turn train teachers to screen children with eye chart, identify and refer those with eye health problems. Mobile eye screenings are then organized at each community to identify children suffering from cataracts or refractive errors. Children with refractive errors are provided with prescribed eye glasses while children with cataracts are connected with identified service providers for cataracts surgery.Care For Vision also advocate for government policies that allows less privileged visually impaired children to get treated for free.
