Mental Health Care - Toronto, Ontario, Canada
We support children's mental health in 3 ways:School-Based ProgrammingWe provide a fully funded 2-year collaborative psychotherapy program that brings together teachers, parents and therapists to support children in need. Children who have been selected for our treatment intervention have significant social, emotional, learning, and mental health difficulties as a result of maltreatment or trauma. All of our registered psychotherapists are members of the Canadian Association of Psychoanalytic Child Therapists (CAPCT) and have extensive experience working with children who are struggling due to various forms of abuse, neglect, stress, and trauma. We currently run in select schools in Toronto in partnership with the Toronto District School board. Mental Health ResearchResearch is integral to our work and allows us to evaluate our treatment, measure our outcomes, and make adjustments based on our findings. Our president, Dr. Susan Walker-Kennedy and research advisor, Susan Elgie, have been invited to international conferences to share our work and the results of our school-based collaborative therapy approach. Education & AwarenessWe regularly publish and share information about children's mental health on our website, podcast and social media channels. We want to be an excellent resource for parents, teachers and families, and to demystify and destigmatize mental illness. You can explore our articles here, subscribe to our podcast and follow us on twitter to stay connected and informed.
