At CALA, we specialize in whole-brain-based learning. That applies to both our foreign language and stress management classes. FOREIGN LANGUAGEWhether you need to learn a Foreign Language for Work, Travel, Personal Development, or even a Refresher, we've got you covered. As experts in Whole-Brain-Based Learning, we model our techniques after the ways each of us learned our first language. The teaching methods work by engaging both sides of the brain. The activities used in the class foster natural, stress-free language learning and most of all, long-term retention!We offer training in (Mandarin) Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, French, Arabic, German, Tamil, and Latin. In just a few hours a day and over the course of one week, you will: - Understand basic conversational greetings- Understand positive and negative emotional expressions- Comprehend and respond to personal questions- Comprehend and produce all parts of speech from various domains of high-frequency vocabulary (e.g., places, parts of the body, the family, the home, the classroom, clothing, colors, numbers 1-20, and transportation)STRESS MANAGEMENT When people think of yoga, they usually think of Stress Management, yoga for Physical Therapy, or Fitness. No one associates yoga with learning a new language. But at CALA workshops for future language teachers, we include yoga as part of their tool kit for stress management. A calm teacher provides brain-based classes so that students are in the best state to learn a language. We now offer yoga classes TO THE PUBLIC for all levels and abilities. If you need something akin to physical therapy, are just looking to unwind, or if you would like to get fit, our classes will meet your needs. We can also provide on-site workshops for groups.
