The Center for Transnational Environmental Accountability (CTEA) is a non-profit organization that supports communities impacted by Chinese international investments and climate change. CTEA promotes governmental and corporate transparency and uses public interest litigation to hold multinationals accountable. Through collaboration with partners in Africa, Latin America and Asia, CTEA bridges knowledge gaps between Chinese NGOs and their counterparts in the Global South and encourages China to fulfill international obligations to protect the environment and human rights beyond its borders according to international environmental and human rights treaties and norms.CTEA envisions that through forging paths for knowledge transfer, pursuing corporate and governmental transparency, and demanding legal accountability, environmental justice, and human rights standards will be elevated in communities negatively impacted by international investments.
