Chicago Area Ethnic Resources, www.chicagoethnic.org, is the metro area's leading source of information on the region's diverse communities. It publishes two highly acclaimed resources: 1) The 2012 Directory of Chicago Area Ethnic Organizations and Media; and 2) The Ethnic Handbook for the Chicago Area. In 2013, CAER will be further engaged in helping other organizations advance intergroup relations, research on ethnic groups and cross-cultural initiatives. The Directory is available now through the CAER's web site at www.chicagoethnic.org. It contains information on more than 300 ethnic organizations and media serving the Chicago metropolitan area. It is an indispensible resource for any professional who wants access to diverse groups and their leadership. The Ethnic Handbook, 2nd edition, will be available Summer 2012. It contains easy-to-read, detailed chapters on 36 of the region's major ethnic groups, including demographic information, histories and traditions, issues for community, special health concerns and much more. Each chapter is written by a scholar and/or community leader. Praised by business, academic, governmental and not-for-profit leaders, the Chicago Sun-Times called the Handbook "a fascinating walk through the neighborhoods of Chicago ethnic groups."
