Children for Change empowers youth to become global change-makers with the knowledge, confidence and empathy to make a positive impact in their world. How Do We Inspire Empathy? Our C4C Educators, with support from parent volunteers, meet weekly with each C4C school chapter. Meetings are open to 3rd through 8th graders and allow for focused time to examine complex global issues not explored in the typical classroom setting. C4C-Developed Learning Modules focus on students' areas of interest. Current Modules include Animal Welfare, the Environment, Hunger, Homelessness, Special Needs and Refugees. These thoughtfully designed units allow students time to explore big ideas and topics in age-appropriate ways while unpacking their understanding, igniting their passions and supporting their inherent desire to help. How Do We Inspire Action?C4C develops strategic partnerships with other local non-profits and through those partnerships, we cultivate child-friendly opportunities that allow students and their families to volunteer in the community. Many of the volunteer experiences revolve around the curriculum topics in the classroom to contextualize the learning and transform ideas into real world experience. Ideas generated by students during C4C meetings are explored and supported whether it be a no-straw campaign or a Halloween costume drive for kids in need. We offer periodic "Idea-to-Action" workshops to help the students move their seed ideas to fruitful actions.C4C fosters public speaking opportunities that allow the students to give voice to their convictions.C4C offers the opportunity for families to participate in an annual international service trip opening up another channel to connect empathy with action on a global scale.
