Chitani Community Sustainable Development Organization (CHICOSUDO) is a Malawian local organisation that was founded in 2004 in Blantyre, Southern region. It was started by few people who were caring sick people, addressing gender based violence and supporting orphans and vulnerable children in group village headman Kumponda, Senior Chief Kapeni, Blantyre. It was registered with Malawi Government as a Community Based Organization in 2007. Later in 2012 it changed its name to Chitani Community Sustainable Development Organization where it upgraded to be local nongovernmental organization. VisionThe community where the lives of the underprivileged are improved as a result of access to resources, services and where they are utilized effectively and efficiently. Mission Our mission is contributing to the alleviation poverty, hunger, diseases, injustice and illiteracy among marginalized women and children through information dissemination, empowerment, support and advocacy. Areas of focus : Our Main thematic areas of workAt CHICOSUDO, we have five areas of interest namely: 1) education, 2) women and youth empowerment, 3) Sexual reproductive health and rights, 4) Food security and climate change and 5) water sanitation and hygiene,Our ApproachWe achieve that through the following steps 1, research, 2, information development and dissemination, 3, capacity building, 4, support.Currently we are implementing our activities in two districts: Blantyre and Mulanje.
