Highly regarded for our design and implementation of evidence-based, innovative strategies and culturally competent services, Christie's Place is a leader of innovative programs designed to reduce health disparities and improve access to healthcare for San Diego County's vulnerable populations.Clients have access to a substantial range of services provided by expert staff and a network of collaborative partners who are dedicated to strengthening the health and resilience of women and children affected by HIV. These services include an early intervention services center; medical case management; mental health services; bilingual childcare; patient navigation; outreach; and basic needs assistance. With only a staff of 17 as well as significant volunteer support we receive more than 17,500 visits annually and serve over 1,100 clients. Christie's Place is dedicated to the memory of Christie Milton-Torres, who at age 20 was diagnosed with HIV. She dreamed that one day there would be a haven for women and families living with HIV. During the late 1980s and early 1990s Christie was a tireless advocate for the needs of women and children impacted by HIV/AIDS. In 1994 Christie died due to complications from AIDS. Her parents founded Christie's Place in her memory two years later.
