Food Production - Saint-Cibard, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France
Our château lies on the same rock plateau as Saint Emilion and Pomerol, overlooking the magnificient Dordogne vallée, in the place known in ancient times as the « plateau of wonders » because of the excellence of its wines. We have proofs that the Amoreau family has been living on the estate since 1610 and maybe before, but no documents are left. Today Pascal Amoreau and his father Jean-Pierre Amoreau (the 14th and 13th generation of winemakers) still cultivate the vines following what we used to call ancestral methods and is now known as organic farming, meaning no chemical fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides or pesticides were ever poured into our fields. We are now following the biodynamic methods to preserve better our vineyard which is considered by many as the oldest organic estate in the world. Recently our wines attracted the spotlights and cameras of world media because it has been chosen in 2009 as the "Drops of God – 神之水滴 " by the eponymous Japanese manga and TV series which stated that our wine (2003 vintage) is not only the best in the world but also the best wine of all time. In many countries people refer to our wines as "Drops of God – 神之水滴 "rather than Château le Puy. 2010 was a very rich year in emotions for us as we also celebrated our estate 400 year birthday.
