Cirqa is a location-based social networking (LBSN) application for the iPhone and Android mobile platforms with a companion website. To date, social media networks have by and large concerned themselves with streamlining existing interpersonal relationships online. Cirqa represents the next phase in the development of social media – facilitating social engagement on the ground.It's a fairly simple concept: Cirqa enables users to see basic information about other users ("encounters") in their immediate area – at a minimum their name, hometown, occupation and whether they are looking for personal or professional contacts. This information helps users strike up conversations with other users and network strategically.
