CITYstage provides after school and summer programming to at risk youth in Los Angeles. Our mission is to inspire inner city youth to become artists, leaders, and members of the performing arts community in a program that cultivates individuality, creativity and artistic expression.Our students are our most important stakeholders. Their interests, input, and contributions guide the future growth and development of our programs. In collaboration with the community, our students help create equitable access to the performing arts to a new generation of artists and leaders.To realize our vision, CITYstage provides unique opportunities for students to:• Act as student teachers and mentors• Lead their peers as paid interns and staff• Serve their communities through student-run performances and community service activities• Receive academic, physical and mental health support.• Shape the future of CITYstage by representing student interests as active members of the board and fundraising committees.Leadership experience provides our students with critical thinking skills. They learn about the business of education, the arts and philanthropy, and how these contribute directly to the growth and development of their own communities.
