CKC United is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that raises funds and awareness for organizations and charities by bringing people and music together. Essentially, CKC United organizes live musical events, many of which include bands that they love and bands that have brought them together; they then donate the proceeds to a charity or cause. CKCU has chosen the Kimmel Cancer Center (KCC) at Thomas Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Philadelphia to be the inaugural recipient of funds raised at their events through December 2010. CKC United chose the KCC because many of their members have been personally affected by breast cancer. The KCC also guarantees that the funds CKCU donates will go directly to women and their families going through treatment and in need, rather than research. CKC United's primary fundraising event is Rock the Ribbon, a black-tie gala that took place March 27, 2010 at the Regal Ballroom in Philadelphia. CKCU also organizes other events throughout the year that incorporate local outreach efforts such as food and clothing drives.
