COBRUF is a non-profit organization that develops aerospace educational projects in Brazil, such as the first Brazilian high-powered rocketry competition, in order to enhance technical expertise of college students and crowdsource technological concepts that might collaborate with human space exploration. This initiative was founded as an independent project in 2012 by ten undergraduate students led by Emersson D. C. C. do Nascimento. In 2013, Project COBRUF created the largest technological cooperation between Brazilian college aerospace groups in history. In 2014, COBRUF started the first joint development of a high-powered educational rocket between the main college rocketry groups in Brazil. In 2015, the project was officialized as the COBRUF Association, and efforts were intensified to consolidate the Cobruf rocketry event as one of the most advanced and modern intercollegiate competitions of the world.
