Most business owners get into business because of a love and or expertise of a product or service. Very few get into business because of a love of running a business. Most have no prior experience of running a business. They are learning as they go. We take a look under the hood and run some tests and see what shape the business is in. (and the owner, too) Some companies will just need an alignment, some a tune-up and some an overhaul.We like to work as a coach more than a consultant. This means the owner remains in charge and calls the shots and our job is to help them think things through and have more choices. We become their confidant, sounding board and that little voice that keeps them grounded, positive, accountable and moving forward.We always begin by helping the business owner develop their strategic exit plan. The best businesses are sellable, and smart businesspeople believe that you should build a company to be sold even if you have no intention of cashing out or stepping back anytime soon.
