Detroit Catholic is the digital news service of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit. God is at work renewing the Church throughout the archdiocese. The mission of Detroit Catholic is to be powered by the Holy Spirit to boldly share the stories of the people and communities answering the call to unleash the Gospel. Detroit Catholic is the successor to the archdiocese's longtime award-winning newspaper, The Michigan Catholic, which operated from 1872 to 2018. DetroitCatholic.com and the @DetroitCatholic social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are updated daily with content from our local producers, columnists and partners reporting on Catholic news and events both locally and across the globe. Our local coverage includes the Catholic parishes, schools, institutions and people within Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Monroe, Lapeer and St. Clair counties in southeast Michigan. The Archdiocese of Detroit is home to 218 parishes and 86 schools serving an estimated 1.3 million Catholics.
