Individual & Family Services - Wolfenbüttel, Lower Saxony, Germany
In 2009 the Red Cross Germany re-opened an old helicopter hangar in Wolfenbüttel, Germany, to be a good place for some individual health care offers in the region of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel - the ITZ (Integration and Therapy Center). Our house full of ideas offers different possibilities for families and persons having disabled relatives in the context of inclusion, which takes more and more place in public and political discussion. Guests use our "therapy-swimming-pool", rooms for gymnastic and recreation activities, sports like Judo, Joga and leasure facilities. Our short-break-service (Familienentlastender Dienst) assists about 500 families. In our autism-clinic parents with autism-affected-children or young adults get help and special therapy offers. ITZ School assistance service attend pupils with disabilities to help them being able to learn in ordinary schools. Some young adults live together in a private community within our Center to find out how to live without their parents. Their aim is to live independently as much as possible and organizing their own individual helping system within the time of their stay for about one year. Therefore, in all of our departments the most important question is: what do our customers want and need? We practice home visiting and try to find out the special needs of our families. A thorough consulting, as well as the knowledge of various help-systems, enables us to support our families with high flexibility.
