Civic & Social Organization - Durham, North Carolina, United States
Who are we? A dynamic interdisciplinary graduate and professional student group at Duke that contributes its talents at the intersection of business principles, technological innovation, and effective policy. What do we do? Create interdisciplinary project teams that help local, domestic, and international social organizations better achieve their missions. What is a social organization? Nonprofits, government organizations, NGOs, and social businesses. Why interdisciplinary? Real-world problems are not solved in isolation. Problems in the social and public sector especially require expertise from a variety of disciplines. The world needs smart, enthusiastic, and multi-talented individuals like you to work on complex problems in an increasingly integrated world. How do I get involved? 1. Project Teams: Work on semester-long projects with social organizations. 2. Partner Outreach: Network and build relations with local and international social organizations. 3. Internal Development: Develop skill-sharing curriculum that fosters interdisciplinary learning and collaboration. 4. Public Relations: Use innovative design and communication to reach out to the local and global community. The mission of DISI is to create a dynamic interdisciplinary graduate and professional student group at Duke that contributes its talents at the intersection of business principles, technological innovation, and effective policy to serve social organizations
