Since 1973 Dutchtown South Community Corporation (DSCC) has been working to stabilize & improve southeast St. Louis City. DSCC strives to create equitable development in four neighborhoods: Dutchtown Gravois Park, Marine Villa & Mt. Pleasant. Our mission is to advance neighborhood vitality through community empowerment, housing & real estate development. We operationalize this mission in two broad focus areas of work: Community Facilitation/Convening & Housing Stabilization. For example in our housing stabilization efforts, we restore vacant buildings to their historic design & offer affordable, energy efficient rental & for-sale housing or collaborate with local partners to implement tenant rights education & outreach. Community facilitation efforts include the connection of area residents to planning efforts & other decision-making processes that impact our community. DSCC's service area includes nearly 10% of St. Louis City's population, where its' neighborhoods boast one of the most diverse, high-ranking in the nations fifth-most segregated city. Additionally, DSCC service area has an average of 35% of households living below the poverty line, a rate higher than that of the City & more than double the Missouri rate. An average of 60-70% of our service area lives in low-to-moderate income households.
