The ECSC is an innovative response to a two-fold problem – the critical human resource gaps in the Early Childhood field leading to huge financial burdens for families, businesses, and the state - and the loss to the workforce of valuable experience and talent among older Americans who have been pushed out of employment.To help address critical human resource shortages in the Early Childhood field, Early Childhood Service Corps recruits, trains and deploys older adults to serve in both direct service and capacity-building roles in existing early childhood programs, as business advisors, classroom volunteers and creates a potential pathway to employment in the Early Childhood field as a substitute or full-time classroom teacher. We are one of the first organizations to amplify the power of older adults in the early childhood field. We believe a very small investment in our Early Childhood Service Corp could yield immeasurable benefits, for our economy, children, and families in Colorado and older adults living in our community.
