The El Sistema Aeolian program is made possible by the Aeolian Hall and the collaboration of many individuals and community partners excited to be sharing their expertise and talent. It started as a pilot project in 2011 and now we are excited to have expanded to offer this opportunity to more children and youth in London. At El SIstema Aeolian we offer: - 4 days and 7.5 hours of instruction and rehearsal per week - Instruction on string instruments (violin, viola, cello), choir, musicianship, orchestra ensemble, and gamelan - Instruments and materials provided free of charge to students for classes, rehearsals and personal practise - Dinner provided three days per week to participating youth at no cost to their families - After-school snacks provided four days per week to participating youth at no cost to their families - Performance opportunities in a variety of settings Dedicated to the belief that involvement in the arts can enlighten, inspire, and transform individuals to build a better community. El Sistema Aeolian provides an opportunity for children and youth to experience a free, intensive, innovative and accessible afterschool orchestral program. This program is taught in a nurturing environment with expert music instruction, empowering participants to develop their full potential in a safe and inclusive atmosphere. We see a future through El Sistema Aeolian in which children and youth connect to their creative abilities, enjoy orchestral music-making, increase the capacity for team-building, learn inclusiveness, pursue excellence and engage in self-actuated learning styles. Through these skills and pathways, new horizons will be actuated in these young people's lives, assisting them in achieve their full potential and enriching the community of London.
