At Empowered Health & Cancer Wellness, our goals are to increase social consciousness and knowledge around cancer, and to encourage healthy SELF-CARE preventive practices among African-Caribbean communities globally.THE NEED There has been a SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN CANCER diagnosis and mortality rates in AFRICA, LATIN AMERICA and THE CARIBBEAN in recent years.In 10 years, the number of new cancer cases in Africa jumped from 715,000, in 2008, to over a million, in 2018. Cancer deaths have gone from 542,000 to 693,487 in the same period. That represents an increase of 28% in this period. The United States of America, for example, had a rise of 9% in death rates in the same decade.In Latin America and the Caribbean, cancer is also growing at an alarming rate. A study published in The Lancet Oncology estimates that by 2030, 1.7 million cases of cancer will be diagnosed in the region, and more than a million people will die from cancer each year.WHAT WE OFFERWe offer educational information and programs to help people take charge of their health, learn more about cancer, how they can prevent it and increase their chances of overcoming it from experts via our digital resources.The foundation of everything we do is based on promoting a BALANCED LIFESTYLE - we bridge Conventional Modern Medicine with Traditional (Natural) Approaches for CANCER PREVENTION.It's been estimated that approximately 25 – 40% of all cancers have a nutritional connection.
