The Far South Community Development Corporation (Far South CDC) is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit corporation established in 1977 to foster economic development and eradicate slum and blighted conditions in its service area. Our mission is to alleviate low-income communities within the Calumet Corridor of poverty, blight, and economic distress through effective economic and community development. The organization achieves this through three main pillars: business development, community and housing services, and development+planning. For forty-three (43) years, the Far South CDC has worked primarily in the Beverly/Morgan Park areas. However, as of January 1, 2007, the Far South CDC began focusing east of Interstate 57 in the Washington Heights, Roseland, and West Pullman neighborhoods. The Far South CDC core service area starts 71st Street north to Interstate 80 south and from Cicero Avenue west to Illinois/Indiana border east.
