Civic & Social Organization - San Juan, Metro Manila, Philippines
Filipino Freethinkers is a civil society organization that has been promoting reason, science, and secularism in the Philippines since 2009. Our advocacy of secularism and human rights has been featured frequently in mainstream media, which has helped us gather a significant following online: our website has consistently been one of the most popular websites on the topic of religion, and our community on Facebook has almost reached 30,000. In 2011, the largest social media award-giving body named FF the most influential organization online. FF president Red Tani recently won another social media award from the largest social media news network in the country (Rappler.com) for promoting freethought online and on the ground. We are at the forefront of the sociopolitical battle for human rights that have been blocked because of religious bigotry, including women's rights (SRHR, divorce, feminism), LGBT rights, and freedom of expression. We work with both secular and religious organizations, including legislators and other government officials, to protect the secularism that is enshrined in our constitution.
