Nonprofit Organization Management - Bamenda, Northwest, Cameroon
The Foundation for Resources and Community Empowerment of Cameroon (FORCE-CAM) was established as a formal organization to continue the work of the Late Pa David Yuniwo Nfor.In the rural village of Ndu, Cameroon, where Pa Yuniwo lived, he saw daily the effect poverty was having on his community and chose to help those in need with the limited means he had available. He saw that underprivileged children were clothed and sent to school, families were supported with food packages and those in need of counseling support in hard times received it. Directly supporting children's education, particularly that of Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVC's) was a top priority for him. His vision of supporting children in need has been carried on through the work of his family and dedicated community volunteers. The Foundation for Resources and Community Empowerment of Cameroon abbreviated FORCE-CAM and also fondly called the Yuniwo David Nfor foundation after the death of the founder, is an apolitical and non-profit making organization. It is duly registered on 19 July 2006 in conformity with the provisions of Law No. 90/053 of 1990. FORCE-CAM makes a difference! We work to enhance the socio-economic development of communities with particular interest on the highly vulnerable (HIV/AIDS orphans and widows) and underprivileged groups. We strengthen the capacity and resourcefulness of rural communities for sustainable development. We educate, inform and raise awareness of rural masses on development related issues. We also back up development initiatives of communities and provide expert support/ volunteers for community based organizations. All of our work is at the community level, working in partnership with community members to educate and raise communities out of poverty.
