FCA grew out of civil society's participation in the work that produced the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) in 2005, the first modern-day public health treaty. The FCTC requires Parties to adopt a comprehensive range of measures designed to reduce the devastating health, social, economic and environmental impacts of tobacco. With a membership of nearly 500 non-government organisations from over 100 countries, the Alliance is an influential voice for civil society at the FCTC Conference of the Parties. FCA is also a leading advocate for including the FCTC and global tobacco control in the international health and development framework, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that were adopted by United Nations Member States in 2015.Sign up for our eNews at fctc.org
