Nonprofit Organization Management - Cairns, Queensland, Australia
Friends of Himalayan Children is a non-profit organisation that's devoted to helping Himalayan communities with education, community development projects, accommodation, human rights, economic sustainability and women's education.Friends of Himalayan Children has founded by 2011 Pride of Australia Queensland Fair Go category winner Som Tamang. Born in Batase in Langtang, Nepal, Som Tamang didn't have access to the education so many of us in Australia take for granted. With no school in his village, 10-year-old Tamang knew he'd have to travel to the city if he wanted to advance his lot in life."A man I trusted told me about an opportunity to work for a rich family in Kathmandu, who would give me the chance to go to school," Tamang said."So I left everybody behind to follow my dream of studying." But it was not what he expected. "I was physically and emotionally abused and treated as a slave," Tamang said. From this experience, Tamang formed Friends of Himalayan Children Foundation in 2007 to give better learning environment and educational opportunities to children at his school in Batase village in Nepal. We are still in the growing process and passionate to give children and women in Nepal to give better opportunity. For more information, please see the following link:Website: www.f-hc.orgFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/f.hc.marketinghttp://www.youtube.com/FHimalayanChildren (YouTube Channel)https://twitter.com/#!/f_hc_i (Twitter)
